What happens in a chiropractic adjustment and how does it affect me?
When a chiropractic adjustment is performed, sometimes a pop or clunk will be heard. This is just the joint releasing nitrogen gas. The purpose of the adjustment is to restore motion to a fixated joint. This restored motion allows for optimum function in the spine and/or extremities.
What should I expect on my first visit?
You should plan on arriving 15 minutes before your appointment time to fill out and prepare your new patient paperwork. When you get in the treatment room Dr. Vickery will take a detailed history of your current complaint to gather as much information as possible to determine which examinations will be appropriate for your condition. The examination may include a spinal or regional exam, orthopedic and neurologic testing, and functional screening. X-rays may be performed depending on the case. The new patient exam will take about an hour total and you will go home with some knowledge on your condition and a plan on how to get back to your normal lifestyle.
If I’m pregnant is it safe for me to visit a chiropractor?
